‘Schubertiade II’ - Piano Recital & Art Exhibition

Updated: Jul 18

As requested by many of you, the 'SCHUBERTIADE' event (piano recital + art exhibition) that took place in Greece for the first time in September last year, will be repeated (with a slightly changed programme) in June this year as 'SCHUBERTIADE II' ! It will include a piano recital and an art exhibition.

This greatly anticipated and carefully and with love planned event will take place in the intimate and serene atmosphere of the freshly renovated and tastefully decorated 'Maria Joao Pires' hall.

In the true spirit of 'Schubertiades', the piano recital will be accompanied by an art exhibition, featuring coloured illustrations from my various colouring books, coloured by myself and various colourists with different media, as well as my recent hand drawn/painted and digitally created artwork.

There will be also a (limited) number of books and art prints available for purchase.

And, more ....................... (there will be surprises)

The 'Schubertiade II' will take you to a musical, artistic, and spiritual journey - one truly different experience which I am enthusiastically looking forward to share with you again.

Come early, because there are only 50 seats available in the hall (ideal for the desired intimate atmosphere for music and art sharing in the spirit of 'Schubertiades' where the audience is an integral part of the whole creative process). Of course, if the weather permits, the double door to the beautifully maintained Mediterranean style garden will be open to accommodate more people.

Entrance is by donation - pay what you can - all in a continuous effort to bring music and art closer to people from all walks of life, and to people with different means.

Mark Saturday 15th June in your calendars.

Looking forward to see you soon ........................

Love, Xenia

PROGRAMME:

Franz Schubert:

Impromptu, Op. 90 No. 1, D. 899/1 in C Minor

Impromptu, Op.142 No. 2, D. 935/2 in A-flat Major

Six Moments Musicaux Op. 94, D. 780: No. 2, 3 and 4

Klavierstücke No. 2, D. 946 in E-flat Major

SIDE NOTE: Some of us are the happiest when creating and sharing art. As it is all we are meant to be and do in this life. Be and act through art. Our true element. And everything else not only much less natural but also much more difficult to achieve. A sentiment matching Schubert's own: "I am in the world only for the purpose of composing." Can't wait to see you all in my own true element on Saturday evening .

* A 'Schubertiade' is a music event, or a concert explicitly organized to celebrate the music of Franz Schubert. The first 'Schubertiades' held in the early 1820s were typically located in the private homes of Schubert's friends or fans. Generally hosted by wealthy families, these gatherings would include Schubert himself and often other notable musicians of the era. While much emphasis was placed on the music of Schubert, the 'Schubertiades' would often include other artistic presentations such as art exhibitions, poetry reading, dancing, and games.

Thank you for repeating this. The first event has been a huge success, so I am sure the second one is greatly anticipated. Looking forward to it very much.
