Teaching MUSIC ...

Updated: Mar 15

Most of the piano or any other musical instrument's teachers teach notes, styles, technique ... They teach you 'how to'. And that is somewhat understandable and acceptable at the very beginning of someone's study, to help them learn about the instrument - how it functions and how to use it.

However that is not teaching music. It is only teaching you how to use the instrument.

Teaching technique and teaching about how a particular instrument works is not teaching music.

To teach music is to help someone understand and feel the instrument as the extension of themselves. To help them find and listen to their inner music and express it through the instrument. That is teaching music.

And that might take time. Usually - a lot of time.

Finding one's unique inner music and finding out how to fully express it through one's body and the instrument - as one unit - that is learning music. A development of a process that is unique to that person only ! One-of-a-kind ! No teacher can teach you that. True 'teachers' can only help you in the process.

I am not a piano teacher. I help students search for and discover their unique inner music and its unique 'language'. I help them in the process of exploring, finding and expressing it through their body and their instrument. I transmit, help, collaborate, share, guide ... but I don't teach !

It is a very different process ...... A process and a method that is as different and as unique as it is each student.
