WHAT DEFINES A SUCCESSFUL PERFORMER

Updated: May 20

Success of a pianist/musician is not defined by the number of followers and/or reviews someone has on social media (some people, unlike some other, might be very social and have many friends and relatives), nor by commercial achievement (that depends on many factors many of which have nothing to do with music and/or art), nor by number of recitals and concerts (as that also depends on many factors many of which has more to do with in-trend demands than music and/or art), nor by the number of recordings (which also depends on many factors, the majority of which are not related to music or art at all).

Success of a pianist/musician is defined by those original authentic unique moments, when an artist and audience become one, when a unique feeling, sentiment, idea, or message has been conveyed and shared, reaching its ultimate purity, focus, and effectiveness in moving and opening the heart, mind, and spirit of everyone present. If that is happening to you as a performer, no matter how often, where and/or when, know that you have succeeded.

It could happen in the most famous concert halls in the world, as well as in the smaller, less known venues, or modest municipality/community halls, or even intimate private halls.

It is quality over quantity. Always !

Originality, purity, honesty, sincerity, uniqueness and artistry of a performance that reaches and moves us on all levels profoundly changing us - is what makes a successful performance.

That and ONLY that ! No matter what the music industry does or says, or is trying to make you believe and/or push you into - stick to that only !

Only someone who performs for pure enjoyment and nourishment of their own heart and their own soul - is able to touch and nourish other hearts and other souls as well.

I am almost every day discovering brilliant pianists, completely unknown, even in the music world. Just because they don't have a lot of followers on Facebook or Instagram, or don't dress provocatively, or don't have connections with the 'important' people of the music world ....... Artists that are interested in their art only, not appearances, publicity or money (not saying that artist should not be paid adequately for their contribution and life long hard work). I am working with some and I am planning to bring those hidden gems to light soon.
