'ROMANTIC J.S. Bach' - Piano Recital

Updated: Sep 22

A recital dedicated to J.S. Bach - approached from an unusual angle.

All that people usually know about Bach is that he was an extremely productive late baroque composer, celebrated for his mastery of counterpoint, harmonic, and motivic organisation, and his adaptation of rhythms, forms, and textures from abroad.

What is generally less known or acknowledged is his deep soul touching diversity of romantic feelings expressed through variety of pieces and forms written for keyboard with expressive lyrical melodies and innovative harmonic language and rhythms.

It is such pieces that I will be presenting to you on 21st - from various opuses of Preludes, Concertos and Arias - in a recital dedicated to one of my favorite composers when at his romantic best.

Come early, because there are only 50 seats available in the hall. Of course, if the weather permits, the double door to the beautifully maintained Mediterranean style garden will be open to accommodate more people.

Entrance is by donation - pay what you can - all in a continuous effort to bring music and art closer to people from all walks of life, and to people with different means.

Mark Saturday 21th September in your calendars.

Looking forward to see you soon ........................

Love, Xenia

Thank you so much everyone who participated, assisted and encouraged me throughout this recital and its preparations. It has been a wonderful experience to play only Bach all evening, especially the pieces we don't hear or play often, and some of my own arrangement. Great audience response too - full hall + people listening from the garden with the early Autumn scents in the air, organic and earthy with a little bit of sweetness to it (a bit too early for Greece though but just appropriate to mark the change of seasons). Till next time ......................
